Call for Abstracts

Abstracts submissions is now closed

Abstract Submission

The Organising Committee invites the submission of abstracts for consideration for presentation at the meeting.  The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 15 May.

The format for all the abstracts will preferably be both as an electronic poster, which can be viewed throughout the congress, as well as an oral presentation of 5 minutes that will be scheduled within the sessions of the meeting. Authors may wish to choose to have their presentation as an electronic poster only.

Authors are requested to indicate their preference, but should note that the final decision lies with the Scientific Committee. Abstracts accepted for oral platform presentation may be published in SARJ, and authors are requested to take note of the additional instructions below.

Abstract Format

The abstract should be a maximum of 300 words. The format should be as follows:

Research Abstract
Introduction, Methods, Results & Conclusions

Case Report
Introduction, Case & Discussion

Note: If visuals of patients are going to be shown, this must be accompanied by patient informed consent.

Only Abstracts conforming to this format will be considered for presentation.

3. Cardiothoracic Surgery
4. Sleep

The official language of the conference is English.

Poster Presentations

Full details for preparation of posters will be included in the abstract acceptance letter.  Accepted posters will be displayed throughout the Congress as e-posters.


Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee. All abstracts that are accepted for presentation will be required to be uploaded as oral presentations and/or electronic posters prior to the congress.

Presenters will be notified at the end of May 2016 if their abstract(s) have been accepted.

All presenters of accepted abstracts must be registered as congress delegates.

Early registration fees will apply. Fellows in training who have an abstract accepted will have their congress registration fee reimbursed.
