CLIMATE
Johannesburg offers warm summers and mild and cool winters. Summer temperatures range between 18°C (64°F) and 27°C (80°F). Winter temperatures range between 12°C (53°F) at night and 18°C (64°F) by day.

South Africa is GMT+2 (2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time).
Example: 12h00 midday in South Africa, is:

TIPPING / GRATUITIES
A 10% gratuity on the bill generally applies in restaurants and is normally at the discretion of the diner and dependent on the standard of service experienced. Restaurants usually do not include the tip in the bill unless the booking is for 10 or more people.

ELECTRICITY
The electricity supply in South Africa is 220/230 volts AC 50Hz. Appliances of lesser voltage require a transformer (especially those with a heating element such as hairdryers). Adapters are obtainable locally and in most cases available from your hotel concierge. Most hotel rooms have 110-volt outlets for electric shavers and small appliances.

WATER
South African tap water is completely safe to drink and quite palatable. Bottled water is also available from room service, restaurants and at retail outlets.

SAFETY / SECURITY
Delegates are advised to take the usual safety precautions. Do not walk alone in quiet streets after dark. Use a taxi at night and only those from a reputable taxi company. Check with your hotel concierge as to the safety of a specific area should you be unsure. Do not attract attention by displaying expensive items such as cameras and expensive watches and jewellery when sightseeing. Make use of the hotel safety deposit box or your room safe to safeguard valuables and passports.

SMOKING
Smoking is prohibited by law in public areas throughout South Africa, including airports, shopping malls and restaurants. Most public spaces have specially designated smoking areas.

CURRENCY
The monetary unit is the South African Rand (ZAR) and the international symbol is R. R1 = 100 cents. Currency is issued in denominations of notes of R200, R100, R50, R20, R10 and coins. Please visit www.xe.com to convert your local currency.

VALUE ADDED TAX
Value added tax (VAT) is included in the price of most goods and services. Visitors are required to pay VAT on purchased goods. VAT refunds may be claimed at airports, harbours and custom offices on items taken out of the country when the total value exceeds R250.00. Customs officials will ask to see the items as well as their purchase slips when applying for a refund.

MOBILE PHONES
Mobile phones with a local South African sim card & number can be rented at Johannesburg (OR Tambo) International Airport and returned upon departure.

What is included in my registration for SATS SLEEP 2016?
Access to all scientific sessions (subject to venue capacity)

• SATS SLEEP 2016 congress bag and programme

I did not receive any confirmation email/invoice after registering online, what can I do?
Please contact lauren@eoafrica.co.za

Methods of payment and invoices
Payments can be made by bank transfer. Note that cheques will not be accepted.
Onsite, cash payments in ZAR only are accepted.
The PDF invoice received after registration is considered an original invoice.
Please state your complete invoicing address at the end of your registration in the dedicated fields. Once issued, the invoice will not be modified.

Cancellation and modification policy
Cancellations must be sent by fax to +27 (0)11 325 0028 or email to accounts2@eoafrica.co.za and are subject to the following conditions:
• Before 20 July: 10% cancellation fee will be applicable
• From 21 to 27 July: 25% cancellation fee will be applicable
• From 28 July to 03 August: 50% cancellation fee will be applicable
• No refunds after 03 August
• “No show” delegates to SATS SLEEP will not receive a refund
The delegate may, if he or she wishes, be replaced by another delegate, provided that notice is given to EOA at least 48 hours before the start of the event.
Name changes are possible when in the SAME registration category only:
Changes across different registration categories will incur an admin fee of R250 per change.  Each registration/badge is individual and non-transferrable.

Day registrations are available, kindly pre-register on line

Individual registration vs group registration
Please select individual registration if you need one invoice per delegate.
Please select group registration if you would like one global invoice for several delegates.

Presenter (abstract or case presenters) registration
The presentation of an accepted submission at SATS SLEEP 2016 entitles authors to an early bird registration rate. 
Transport and accommodation will remain their own responsibility.

BADGE POLICY
How and where can I collect my badge?
Badges to be collected on arrival at the SATS SLEEP 2016 Registration Desk.

If I lose my badge, will I be able to print it again?
Please visit the Registration Desk for assistance.

Badges must be worn at all times for both security and accreditation purposes. They are personal and non-transferable.

FINAL PROGRAMME
Where can I find the scientific programme?
The programme is available online on the Scientific Programme page click here.  A hard copy will be included in the congress bag.

CERTIFICATES OF ATTENDANCE
Where will I collect my certificate of attendance?
Please indicate during the online registration process whether you require a certificate of attendance and one will be forwarded after the congress.

Course Accreditation
Course accreditation for the SATS SLEEP Congress 2016 is not yet available. Please check back at a later date.

ACCOMMODATION
Where can I stay?
Accommodation is being held at the Indaba Hotel & Conference Centre as well as at the nearby City Lodge, at preferential rates in order to help with your reservation. Please book early and directly with the hotel to avoid disappointment.
